In class today, students took notes on the quality traits of an Aristotelian Tragic Character. They discussed characters from popular plays, novels, and films who met this description.

In class today, I explained my 'check' marking system. We reviewed the previous night's homework to demonstrate 'check plus' quality work. We also reviewed each question answer for quality. We analyzed trade data to determine the effectiveness of the CandybarTER exercise and then considered common barriers to trade.

HW due 8/26: Read text pgs 102-104. Complete Theme: G&H question on pg 103 & Assessment (pg 104) #4,5,7.

In class today, students performed a group brainstorming exercise on the topics:
1) What is Western Civilization?
2) What do I want to learn in Western Civilization this year?
Additionally, we reviewed the syllabus to provide an overview of the main topics we will explore as a class over the course of the year.
